End-to-end Optical Transparency in the Personal Network Concept
نویسنده
چکیده
In the Personal Network (PN) concept, the user with its Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) is the central element with transparent connections to remote resources using a large variety of services. A global service environment is established via WPAN access to a long-haul infrastructure network e.g. the optical fiber network. If the fiber reaches to the WPAN, wireless over optics transmission is an essential network ability. Currently, PN services are available but are limited in quality of service. Restrictions are found on a local and global level where the optical transparency of the intermediate network layers is interrupted and as such prevents an end-to-end transparent transmission path. In this paper, the PN concept and its restrictions are discussed where after optical technologies are introduced. The dilemma of global transparency is highlighted. Finally, limitations of local and global transparency as well as 4G over optics transmission are addressed.

Monitoring of Meshed Optical Networks using Modified End- Terminals
Modern optical fibre networks are evolving from static point-to-point connections towards meshed networks with some degree of optical transparency and capability for reconfiguration. At the same time installation and operation shall be simplified, while the availability shall be kept high. In the network design this task can be accomplished by allocation of transmission margins and by control o...
متن کاملFault Identification using end-to-end data by imperialist competitive algorithm
Faults in computer networks may result in millions of dollars in cost. Faults in a network need to be localized and repaired to keep the health of the network. Fault management systems are used to keep today’s complex networks running without significant cost, either by using active techniques or passive techniques. In this paper, we propose a novel approach based on imperialist competitive alg...

متن کاملDimensions of Futility at the End of Life: Nurses’ Experiences in Intensive Care Units
Background and aims: The concept and meaning of futile care depends on the existing culture, values, religion, beliefs, medical achievements, and emotional status of a country. In Iran, futile care hasbecome a challenge for nurses working in intensive care units (ICUs). Considering the differencesobserved in defining futile care based on the patients’ conditions and the nurses’...
متن کاملQuality of Service guarantees and fault-tolerant TCP services in mobile wireless optical networks
In this paper we address the problem for communications Quality of Service (QoS) in wireless networks of Mobile Optical Free-space networks. We propose an architecture for end-to-end statistical delay guarantees. A delay model using the concept of virtual traffic accommodates variations in link capacity variations as well as transient outages. The QoS architecture uses an admission control tech...
